Arsenal legend and former West Ham star Ian Wright has praised Jesse Lingard after his superb start to life on loan at the club.

The England international joined the Hammers from Manchester United in January after struggling to play at Old Trafford for some time.

Despite this, Lingard has rebounded superbly after winning more playing opportunities from David Moyes’ side, and Wright is suitably impressed.

“Very impressed with the way Jesse accepted his loan,” said Wright. “It was something people almost forgot because he couldn’t make the day’s shift.

“So that he shows the physical form that he has shown the whole time he hasn’t played.” It must be said that he was very successful in placing himself in a West Ham team and playing as he plays.

“It was a bad penalty if I want to be totally honest with you – (but) his play leading up to the penalty was brilliant play. When he gets on the ball in the final third he’s pretty devastating.

“His touch, his pace, the progress of the ball and his skill. There is a problem. He is a danger.
