The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League kicks off on March 26 with Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings taking on the Kolkata Knight Riders in Mumbai. The upcoming season sees the arrival of two new franchises – Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans – to the tournament, in addition to the eight already existing. The season also preceded a mega auction which saw a number of key personnel changes. One such change was the signing of Ravichandran Ashwin by Rajasthan Royals.
Ashwin was a key part of the Delhi Capitals squad for the past two seasons but was bought by the Royals for INR 5 crore. As one of India’s senior players, Ashwin is set to play a pivotal role in the coming season for RR and the team’s young all-rounder, Riyan Parag, is looking forward to playing alongside the off. -spin.
“If not the best ever, he (Ashwin) is like one of the best off-spinners in the world, and I will definitely try to carry a red ball with me into the tournament so I can get some tips,” Parag said, as quoted by Gulf News.

“But even with the white ball, I think if I can pick his brains out on the varieties and all the mysteries, I think my white ball bowling will be much better after the season.”
Riyan Parag made his IPL debut for the Royals in 2019 and was bought out by the Royals in the mega auction. Speaking about the season, Parag insisted he wants to be more consistent.
“I think it’s about having a simple goal of winning games for the team every chance I get and, at the end of the day, being very consistent. I think a lot many people will tell you, the role I play is the toughest in T20 cricket, beating at 6 or 7, finishing games,” the 20-year-old said.
“I know I haven’t produced as many performances as I would have liked, but I think now I understand myself a lot better as a player and understand what my strengths are. So hopefully this will be my year,” said Parag, a product of the franchise’s talent hunt program.
