Jefferson County fire crews battled a fire in Okolona at a tire store Wednesday night, according to JCFS officials. County fire crews responded to a commercial structure fire just after 8pm Wednesday in the 6200 block of the Preston Freeway. Upon arrival, they found black smoke rising from the building. Officials said crews pulled over quickly, extinguishing the fire in about 15 minutes. They said it took a total of 30 firefighters to help put out the blaze. Officials said the building was stacked wall-to-wall with tires, which made extinguishing the fire more difficult.
