A photo shows that Peter Doocy lives in a barn or on a farm.

Fact check

In May 2022, an ad appeared online that appeared to imply that Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy lived in a “luxurious” barn or had a home on a farm. Although details of Doocy’s real residence are private, we found our certainty that this image was a misleading clickbait.

This ad ran on the Outbrain ad network, which means it likely appeared on a large number of websites.

We clicked on the ad. This led to a 223-page article that took 222 “Next Page” clicks to reach the end. Information about Doocy eventually appeared on the last page, page 223. However, it didn’t reveal anything about his supposedly “luxurious” living space, nor a barn or house on a farm. He simply claimed, without providing any evidence, that Doocy’s net worth was $1.5 million and his salary was “up to $100,000 a year.”

Peter Doocy’s bold yet charming ways of questioning brought him fame and fortune. What’s even more impressive is that he has already hit the mainstream journalism league at such a young age. Along with his growing popularity and experience, expect the Fox News anchor’s wealth to gain more zeros in the coming years.

Rising through the ranks to become one of the richest journalists in the world, Peter’s total net worth sits comfortably around $1.5 million. Covering high-profile stories has allowed him to build a resume that rivals his father’s and boosts his salary. Pocketing up to $100,000 a year, Peter’s mainstream influence reflects his growing social media following.

Again, this slideshow post provided no source for any of his claims regarding Doocy’s salary and net worth.

As for the photo in the ad, we found it was from Doocy’s own Instagram page. It was released on February 1, 2016, the day of the Iowa caucuses that year. Her Instagram caption read, “‘Hey! Is this heaven? ‘No, this is Iowa.'” The location was tagged as “Iowa State University Jeff & Deb Hansen Agriculture Student Learning Center.”

It should be noted about Doocy that his father, Steve, also works for Fox News as the host of the morning show, “Fox & Friends.”

Bottom line, no, the Fox News photo of Doocy standing in front of a barn in a farm-like setting had nothing to do with his current home. It was a clickbait created by arbitrage advertisers.

Snopes demystifies a wide range of content, and online ads are no exception. Misleading advertisements often lead to obscure websites that host long slideshow articles with lots of pages. This is called advertising “arbitrage”. The advertiser’s goal is to earn more money from the ads displayed on the slideshow pages than it costs to display the initial ad that attracted them.
