weight class: Flyweight
Results: Jesus Santos Aguilar defeated. Erisson Ferreira via submission (guillotine choke) – round 3, 1:56
To note:B

Even if the beginnings were a little difficult, Jesus Santos Aguilar gets a B for his commitment and his victory against Erisson Ferreira.

Aguilar started off with almost frenzied energy and aggression, attempting takedowns that got him stuck in some bad spots. That said, although Ferreira almost closed the show a few times, pressure from Diego Sanchez d’Aguilar seemed to break his Brazilian foe as things progressed.

And sure enough, after an early takedown in the third round, Aguilar was able to force a scramble that allowed him to grab Ferreira’s neck for his patented guillotine choke. Aguilar always seems to be honing his game as he will need to stay technical and not make as many mistakes against UFC level opposition.

While this streak (again) is happy to sign early, I’m glad the UFC president is subsequently bolstering the flyweight division with fresh blood. Hopefully we’ll see Aguilar paired with someone like Victor Rodriguez or Juancamilo Ronderos by the end of the year.
